GAPP - GPU Accelerated Packet Processing
Benefits GAPP is a GPU-based network processing solution for high bandwidth networks. It offers operators a scalable and flexible approach to dealing with the avalanche of data in their networks, at a lower total cost of ownership.
GAPP - The TechnologyNgarua GAPP uses a GPU for packet processing, communicationg via a specialised high-performance I/O driver with the network interface (patent pending). Processing is offloaded entirely from the CPU, significantly reducing overhead. We already have GPUs scaling to 40Gbit/sec, and they offer a superior processing roadmap to both general purpose and specialised processors. GAPP's results for prefix lookup, a common operation in packet processing, shows orders of magnitude greater performance than high-end multicore CPUs, at a fraction of the cost. Note: blue horizontal line in the graph below is the 1gbit/sec rate and the red line is the 10gbit/sec rate. MarketsThe key market drivers like fixed/mobile convergence, packet core 4G networks, video and increased security concerns demand high-performance networking and processing. GAPP's core processing power provides for new opportunities to reduce costs and increase revenues across a wide range of domains: network monitoring deep packet inspection routing mobile infrastructure. GAPP is software-based, so operators can develop, implement and modify applications far more quickly and cheaply than our hardware-based competitors.
